Sterile packaging: Practical sterilization packaging
Sterile barrier systems are available in bags or rolls with and without folds (of course you can also use bags and rolls in parallel, depending on your needs).
Tips for use:
- The protective packaging must not be bent or folded.
- Choose a sufficiently large protective packaging: the sealed bag - whether as a finished sterile bag or as a cut from the sterile film roll - should only be filled up to 75%.
- When sealing the protective packaging, make sure that the transparent film lies flat on the paper side. There should be no folds, creases, notches or anything similar.
- Place the sealing seam approximately 2-3 cm from the edge of the bag. This will ensure that the packaging system can be opened easily.
- The sealing seam should also be approximately 3 cm away from the packaged medical device.
- Secure pointed and/or sharp medical devices so that they cannot pierce the bag.
- Pay attention to the peeling direction and fill the protective packaging accordingly.
- Check the sealing seams! These must be flawless across the entire length and width. There must be no creases, folds, channel formation, notches or burns visible in the sealing seams!
